Adding Korean Beauty! Daejeon Dong-gu Hanok Cafe 'Sky High'
Hello :) Today, I want to share my visit to the Hanok cafe Sky High located in Daejeon Dong-gu. Nowadays, cafes are not just spaces to drink coffee—they have become full 'experiences.' I've traveled abroad quite a bit, but Korean cafes constantly impress me with their evolving ambiance, design, and service. Among them, spaces where tradition and modernity blend seamlessly are especially appealing, and Sky High was exactly such a place.
First Impressions of the Space
The building has four floors, each with its own unique charm. Ordering on the first floor and ascending gives a sense of increasingly open space. While there is an elevator for convenience, I took the stairs slowly to enjoy the atmosphere of each floor. The most impressive feature was undoubtedly the Hanok view. The rooftops of Hanok houses outside the window gave the feeling of being in a traditional Hanok village. The window seats on the second and third floors were particularly popular. After sitting there, I immediately understood why everyone tries to get those seats.
Atmosphere Changes Over Time
I visited around 2 PM, after lunch, so it was quite relaxed. I sat in the space with a chandelier on the third floor, where the sunlight gently streamed in, creating a lovely atmosphere. Sipping coffee while gazing absentmindedly out the window helped me clear my cluttered thoughts. The bamboo garden was also special. Outside, there was a white dome filled with bamboo. The heater was on, so even on a cold day, you could sit warmly, and I imagine the lighting at night would create a completely different ambiance.
Who Would Enjoy This Place
Those who love the Hanok aesthetic will truly enjoy this cafe. It's great for dates or for visiting alone to read a book or work on a laptop. Photography enthusiasts will find that any angle captures a beautiful, atmospheric shot. Personally, I recommend visiting on a weekday afternoon, as weekends tend to be crowded. Make sure to sit by the window on the 2nd or 3rd floor—that's truly the heart of this cafe. Enjoying the beauty of a traditional Hanok in a modern cafe space is incredibly appealing. This is the kind of place that comes to mind not just for coffee, but for taking a moment to rest and relax.
